In the street | Harar

À partir de 90,00 €

Everyday scene in the cobbled streets of Harar. My favorite city in Ethiopia. In the 16th century it was the capital of the Harari kingdom (1520-1568) and an important Islamic cultural centre, then in the 17th century the centre of an independent emirate. Between 1880 and 1891, Arthur Rimbaud (french poet from my home region) settled in the city several times. This was a dark and obscure period for the poet who first became a trader for various goods (coffee, clothes or even hardware) and then he started to traffic arms for the Ethiopian emperor of the time, Menelik II.
